My blog turns 5months today!!!!!
In my incredible journey into this blogging world, I have had a lot of ups and downs, more of “ups” I should admit, have met(virtually) some of the most incredible bloggers around the world, made good friends and followers to my blog, as well as set a good standard of blogging practice to myself. Some of the highlights of my 5 month journey are:
1. Increased the number of visitors to my site from none to nearly 100 per day.
2. Improved my Alexa Ranking from 20mil(when I signed up) to 400k today.
3. Improved my Technorati Ranking from 49K to 24k today.
4. Got a Google PageRank of 2 in this short period.
5.Got featured in 7 professional blogs with multiple articles in several of them.
To commemorate this 5 month landmark, I thought I should do something different, not only to promote my blog, but also to give an opportunity for my friends to get featured on my blog, by recognizing their hard work and dedication to fight all odds and still keep blogging. So what I have here is the Top 10 list of posts I have come across in this blogosphere, which have made a long lasting impact on my way of thinking and writing.
p.s. Of course you authors will get a pingback from this article, do approve them, and I would be grateful if you could share the post on your networks, making this effort of mine a little more promising and motivating to everyone else.
1. Blog that inspired me
Ajit Edassery of DollarShower.com was one of the first bloggers whom I started following back in 2008 and has always been a source of inspiration to start my own blog. In 2010 he wrote the one post which made me re-think of my failed attempt at blogging to come back and try it out again. You can read this post here – Sometimes it makes sense to start over blogging again.
I can say I have read each one of his articles and have admired the amount of dedication and patience he has put into his website.
2. Adding Color to Your Life
Manickam Vijayabanu started his blog MediaCrayon.com a few weeks after me and has been writing well informed articles in various niches like technology, automobile advancements, social media and the list goes on. The fact I like about the way he selects his topics to write is that he goes in depth into the subject and gets all the relevant information before he starts to compile his version of the article. He has recently published an article regarding MOG music player and followed it up with how BMW has partnered with the company for on-demand music streaming for their latest models. You can read this article here – BMW Partners with MOG.
3. Websites for Small Businesses
Leora Wenger of Leoraw.com was one of the first professional bloggers who invited me to write a guest article on her blog, and I will never forget the experience. She concentrates mainly on small business owners to setup their websites and improve their business potential, she even participates in many local business events around the NewJersey area and also has several interviews published on her website. One of her posts regarding Responsive Web Design was an eye opener to me and I still relish the idea yet to be implemented by me.
4. Blog that may Contain Nuts
Emily Suess of blog.emily.com(Suess’s Pieces) is a freelancer and a professional writer who has published several articles in many renowned websites. I ran into her website via Leora’s website and even published an article as a guest post in her site. Since then, we have been exchanging several thoughts on blogging and writing and recently she ended a Writing Contest of a considerable magnitude where almost 50 writers participated and followed the entire campaign from start to finish. I should say that I was really impressed by the way she handled it from announcements to judges to winners, everything was professional. Anyone interested in hosting such an online contest should surely take a look at this post – Writers Week Writing Contest.
5. The Daily Blogger
Mani Karthik of DailyBloggr.com has been an ultimate source of information to my line of thought. He has a huge fan following and writes articles on various aspects of blogging and social media. He has got a sound knowledge on SEO and has written several articles on tips to improve one’s ranking. You can be sure to get the latest updates on his site if you are following his feeds. One of his posts I still remember had tips for Free Advertising on Google which was really neat.
6. Balanced Work Life
The name of the blog is by itself a great attraction to any individual, how to balance your personal life and work life has been a great topic of debate since time immemorial. Bryce Christiansen of BalancedWorkLife.com has been a constant visitor on my site and never fails to leave a comment on my posts. He has a well designed website with great many followers and contributors writing stuff about Business Services and Personal Development. Recently he reviewed a video at TED.com and the way he went about explaining how it influenced him was truly wonderful, find time to read this one – Art of Creating Change.
7. Technology & Tricks
One of the many technology related blogs that I have been following closely is Atish Ranjan’s TechTricksWorld.com. There have been several guest authors who find it an honor to get featured on this blog due to the immense popularity and following. Lately Atish has written a post on How to Write Guest Posts which I find very useful since I having been concentrating mainly on getting featured in multiple blogs. He gives some nice pointers and some hard facts upon guest articles and how to make it a success.
8. The Wonder of Tech
I was totally blown away by the simple idea of this blog – WonderOfTech.com by Carolyn Mohr. I have interacted with her several times over the past couple of weeks and understood that the majority of followers of her site are people who need to understand the latest in technology with simple layman terms. That is what she has been doing and has been quite successful at it. She explains what it means to upgrade to the latest iPhone or how to setup the security features in FaceBook which is well appreciated by people who wouldnt want to get bothered by the nitty-gritties of tech jargon.
Recently she wrote “Why crave for iPhone 4S” where she covered all the pros and cons of the new model and explained all the nice to have features with images and videos.
9. My Latest Acquaintance
Adrienne Smith of AdrienneSmith.net has been a blogger whom I stumbled upon from WonderOfTech and was amazed at how well she has designed and maintained her website. The manner in which she has laid out strict rules on commenting and guest posting impressed me to a large extent. The identity of a blog stays with the articles written, which may go haywire when you open up your website to guest articles – is a lesson that I learnt from her.
Her way of letting you promote yourself on her website is really meaningful and well thought out process, do check it out for yourself here – Promote Yourself.
10. Way to Promote
Ritesh of TechSpacia.com has recently started out a well defined approach to get more people to leave their comments on his site. He has come up with a free ad slot for the top commentator of every month and a mention in the blogroll for the Top 10. Isnt that a great idea, read more here – Top Commentators Award.
So this has been the Top 10 for me, of course there are many other professional bloggers like Darren Rowse of ProBlogger.net and Amit Agarwal of Labnol.org fame who are the “gurus” of blogging, but I dont think they need any mention by a start-up blogger like me.
How to Get into this Top 10 List – I plan to write a similar list every month and the only way to get into this list is through me!!! The list is purely based on my thoughts and understanding of the articles and to make me notice your article, just leave a comment and make sure I follow you. Do note that I am NOT listing the top 10 blogs, but the top 10 posts in a blog, so there is every chance that a newer article written by the same author above may feature again next month.
nice to have my name in the list 🙂
less than 2 months of blogging (effectively just one month as I was on vacation for 1 month in Aug-Sep), I managed to get alexa rank of 488K and 200 visitors per day 🙂
Hope that in next turn, you will publish my story of fast progress. 🙂
Thanks again.
Ritesh – That is an awesome achievement, keep it going and you will surely make it to the top level. Keep those good ideas coming.
hello Praveen. thanks for featuring my blog here. You also have maintained a awesome blog and your stats shows your hard work. Keep up the hard work. I on the behalf of Techtricksworld.com wishes you all the success in near future.
Thanks Atish for the wishes.
Thank you for the kind mention! I love responsive web design – easier to implement on a new blog than redo an older one, I have found.
I will enjoy looking at the blogs you listed that are new to me.
(FYI, please check spelling of my last name – Wenger. Thanks!)
Leora – Thanks for bringing it to my notice, I have updated it. You will surely like the other posts mentioned, though some of them you may have already read by now!!

Hi Praveen,
Thank you so much for the mention, always appreciate that!
I love that you have hit the five month mark and continue to see improvement with your stats. Isn’t it a great feeling? To watch those numbers grow in some areas and go down in others (the good down)!
I can only speak for myself but I appreciate you sharing the bloggers with us that you enjoy following and reading. You know I definitely recognize Carolyn on your list but don’t think I’ve had the opportunity to visit any of these other ones. It’s always great to find some new content to read. I’ll try to stop by and check them out.
Thank you again for your support. And to think we just met! This is what blogging is about my friend!
Have a blessed week!
~Adrienne
Adrienne – It is a pleasure to have you listed on my blog. The list is personal and reflects my thoughts about the posts that I have read in the recent days which has had an impact on me.

Thanks Sush.

Thanks Eric for the wishes.
Congratulations on your 5 month mark, Praveen. Give yourself a big pat on the back. What a wonderful way to commemorate this special occasion by highlighting blogs that matter to you.
While Adrienne’s and Carolyn’s blogs are two of my regular stops, I appreciate the introduction to the others. Praveen, Carolyn’s blog is a delightful surprise because she makes “techie” things so easy to understand. Because of her writing style, I even enjoy reading articles that don’t and will not ever apply to me. She is a resource that everyone should visit on a regular basis.
With the way you are going, Praveen, your 1 year anniversary will be something quite spectacular. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead. Until next time, aloha. Janet
Janet – Welcome to my blog, and thanks for the comment. Yes, I have been following all these great bloggers from a while and I am really grateful to one and all for the awesome work they put into their blogs.
[…] on Carolyn’s WonderOfTech. I have been following her and also included one of her posts in my Top 10 posts published on my site in October 2011. She has been a source of inspiration for my writing and has […]
Nice Post for all readers.
Hey Praveen, it’s nice to stumble on your blog today in my bid of getting back into my blogging mojo and decided to start from activating back the interview section on my blog. (BTW, I love how you laid out the interview with Atish Ranjan) How were you able to achieve that?
So speaking about this roundup post, here’s another one I’ll be starting and thanks goodness that I stumble on your blog. It’s filled with a lot of good and useful informations.
I know many of the bloggers you mentioned and I must say you indeed chose well. Adrienne is one person that taught me the ways of blogging and achieving quick success via your hardworking endeavors. She’s my number one blogging goddess!
Thanks for putting a post such as this up here and I’m happy to announce to you that, I’m now a loyal reader of your blog. 😀
