Yes, you guessed it right. This is THE Kristi Hines from the Kikolani fame!!!!!! I have to say here that I haven’t had the honor of interacting much with her (I can imagine with all her fan following and busy schedule), but then, I have been a regular follower of her articles on her blog and no surprises here – Big Fan 🙂 Welcome to another episode of “The Naked Truth” on DailyMorningCoffee.
I love her “Fetching Friday” posts where she lines up all her favorite articles and posts for the week and you get to know more about many wonderful bloggers through that. It is a great idea for a weekly post that will make you sit back and review what you read and how it impacted your writing thoughts.
I am personally having a great time featuring these awesome bloggers on my series and getting to know more about them and their interests. Kristi is one of such established writers who have made it big in this blogging world and it would be a dream to be anywhere close to her standards. And to think that she immediately accepted my invite to share her information through these questions shows how easy-to-reach she is. Thanks Kristi.
As always, please leave your thoughts behind in the Comments section and I would love to hear what you learnt new about Kristi from this interview. If you would like to get featured on this series, please Contact me.

1. | How long have you been blogging? | I have been blogging on and off for over ten years, and a little over three years within my current niche. |
2. | How many blogs do you own and contribute for? | I actively contribute to four that I own and over ten others as a part of my freelance writing career. |
3. | What is the main purpose or objective of your blog? | The main objective of Kikolani, my main blog, is to educate personal, professional, and business bloggers about blog marketing strategies. |
4. | How many posts do you write on an average per week? | Two to three for my main blog and probably ten or more for others. |
5. | How much time do you devote for your blog on a daily basis? | For my own blog, I probably devote an average two hours a day between commenting and social networking. |
6. | How much time do you spend on tracking RSS feeds? | I spend a good bit of time in my Google Reader catching up on the latest blogging, social media, and SEO news. |
7. | What is your favorite social bookmarking site and Why? | Delicious is my favorite bookmarking site, mostly because of the tags and how easy it is to find my old bookmarks thanks to them. |
8. | What is your blog’s monthly revenue? | My blog itself probably makes around $1,000 per month in advertising and affiliate links – the rest of my income is through my freelance writing. |
9. | How many page views does your blog generate daily? | Kikolani has anywhere from 1,000 to 2,600 page views daily, depending on the day of the week. |
10. | Name one blog(apart from yours!!) you read every day without fail. | Social Media Examiner |
11. | What is your blog’s main revenue generator? | Affiliate revenue from products I use (themes, eBooks, plugins, etc.). |
12. | Do you believe in Alexa rankings for measuring traffic? | I sometimes use it to make a general comparison between two sites to see which one is more popular. |
13. | Do you accept Guest Articles on your blog? | Yes – my guest post guidelines are here: Guidelines for Guest Posting |
14. | Do you believing in spending money on promoting your blog? | Definitely, but not for paid links 🙂 |
15. | Do you answer to all the comments on your blog? | I try to, but sometimes I’ll miss the ones over the weekend and then be too caught up in the start of a new work week to go back to them. |
16. | How did you market your blog during your initial days to get the readers that you have? | I started marketing with blog commenting. It is a great way to network with others in your niche! |
17. | Any mistakes to learn from and avoid? | My biggest mistake was not starting a mailing list early on. I missed out on keeping in touch with a lot of my early readers who have since moved on. |
18. | What is your source of new post ideas? | Social media, question & answer network, and my own daily challenges / discoveries. |
19. | Is having a “niche” important to bloggers? | I think having a specific niche gives you focus. If you are writing about anything and everything, it’s hard to focus on what to write about and where to market it. |
20. | Any advice to a start-up blogger? | Definitely make the investment and go with a self-hosted WordPress blog if you plan on using it for business or making money online. |
