Had anybody else thought that her last name was “kvetches”?? Well, I surely did until recently when I started interacting more with her and her blog!!!! If you have known Hajra, you would already know that she is the type of person who can grow your comments into pages and reply to every single piece of information on your post.
Hajra is an intellectual writer who can never stop amazing me with her quick sense of humor even in her one-liner comments. I enjoy the way she interacts with Bill Dorman and how light-minded both of them are in their friendly conversations.

1. | How long have you been blogging? | My first post went online on 16th August 2010; just one day after the Indian Independence Day. Not a conscious thought; just a coincidence. |
2. | How many blogs do you own and contribute for? | I started from one at blogspot; moved to a self hosted one at wordpress. Am a team member at We Blog Better. |
3. | What is the main purpose or objective of your blog? | To kvetch and get back at life mainly. I just started to get back to my love for writing. |
4. | How many posts do you write on an average per week? | I am probably the laziest blogger around. I blog when I feel like my post is all okay for publishing. Currently I have like a zillion drafts lying around. |
5. | How much time do you devote for your blog on a daily basis? | I read so much more than I write; so mine is just about 30 minutes per day. |
6. | How much time do you spend on tracking RSS feeds? | I don’t. I rely on email subscriptions and I spend around 3 hours on reading blogs daily. Reading, commenting, sharing and all the jazz. |
7. | What is your favorite social bookmarking site and Why? | Facebook basically. I have always so much more to say than just 140 characters. |
8. | What is your blog’s monthly revenue? | I am not revealing the number; Bill Dorman might come rob me. |
9. | How many page views does your blog generate daily? | About a thousand a week, more or less. I really don’t bother actually. |
10. | Name one blog(apart from yours!!) you read every day without fail. | Jack (he is the only one who writes everyday!). But I read many who post whenever -Janine Ripper (Reflections from a Red Head), Roy Ackerman (Adjuvancy), Bill Dorman, Carolyn, Muriel Jacques, Holly Jahangiri, Adrienne, Lori... there are just so many! |
11. | What is your blog’s main revenue generator? | Hmmm..... I have to check back on the zillions and get back. |
12. | Do you believe in Alexa rankings for measuring traffic? | It does make sense for bloggers who want to work through their blogs; I hardly check. Maybe if I get more serious someday.... someday! |
13. | Do you accept Guest Articles on your blog? | Yes, but no one wants to write for me 🙁 |
14. | Do you believing in spending money on promoting your blog? | No, I don’t have anything to offer as such, so why bother I feel. |
15. | Do you answer to all the comments on your blog? | Each and everyone. |
16. | How did you market your blog during your initial days to get the readers that you have? | Forced my family and friends to spread the word and come comment. Now they don’t call me over for get togethers. |
17. | Any mistakes to learn from and avoid? | Start on a self hosted blog; not a free platform |
18. | What is your source of new post ideas? | Life. |
19. | Is having a “niche” important to bloggers? | Yes, if you want to run a serious blog, it is. |
20. | Any advice to a start-up blogger? | Be yourself. Don’t get lost in the crowd. |
21. | Name a Blogger who inspires you | Janine Ripper (http://reflectionsfromaredhead.com) |
22. | Bio | Unemployment got me into blogging, and I still am figuring the way around. I blog at Hajra Kvetches where I just complain and laugh right back at life’s big joke. I get all serious at We Blog Better and talk a lot of fun stuff at Rockying |
Seems like you stripped me all bare eh? 😉
Loved doing this and yes, @bdorman:disqus
264 and I have made it a point to beat each other at having fun. Now we are trying to figure out who has got the better groove! We are having fun but we are up against each other on blogs which crown people who just talk a lot! 🙂
As for the secrets, they are all out… man what is a girl to do really!
I am not sure how i came up with the name, but i started loving it since the first feature of Carolyn on this series 🙂
Keep up with your awesomeness and your friendly encounters with Bill. I am sure all of us who know both of you are enjoying it as much as I do.
Thanks for accepting to be a part of this.
LOL! Like we said, just here to have fun! Thanks to you!
Fun is our motivator.
Motivator and goal! 😉
Not only do we talk a lot, we know some talkers too, huh?
Seems like everywhere we go; people are tired of “listening” so much to us; if this was high school then we would be bullied! 🙂
Are they? Who said so?
LOL! We are the biggest talkers everywhere! Why do we talk so much online. Don’t we have lives? 😉
We do. We just choose to spend a huge chunk of them gabbing with other bloggers!
Okay, what is UP with the silent l? LOL
I love this! And thanks for the mention – I feel all famous and stuff, now!
Hajra, as always, you’re a delight. I think your next goal should be to surpass my blogging income by 17%. I just made that number up, you know, because it sounds so much more precise and credible than 10% or 15%. I won’t even charge you $27 for that tip, by the way. And this is why it is a stretch goal, but not impossible – I think I’m only about $100 in the hole for the year. 😉
Praveen, I think yours is only the second domain I’ve actually coveted for more than 60 seconds. I won’t tell you the other – it may come up for grabs soon. 😉
You are famous, remember you are the “veteran blogger” for so long now! 🙂
I hope I do surpass your income and then come around and get my cut from it. That is how I am planning to get my blogging revenue.. will add to the million I made last year! 😉
There are so many domains I would like to capture! Karmic Kappuccino being number 1… I always go like.. darn, why didn’t I think of this!
Mine is still Brian Meek’s Extremely Average…….
Ah yes; I haven’t been there but I remember you mentioning it on your blog; but yes, that is an awfully cool name..
hmmm….something to ponder about am sure
If I count the two free pizzas, CD of Mob Wives, and a TV poster of some show from my Klout perks, can I count that as income? I’ll put a value to it…..:)
You didn’t get the screen wipe or the USB wristband? (And no – I don’t count that CD, but someone my husband works with begged to borrow it and she’s hooked on the show, so it’s all good.)
You guys looks like you are making a lot of money… a lot! 😉
And why does your name have three l’s in it… we should stress on the L longer?
Holly Molly Jolly you are right
It was a test. You can help with the database glitch cleanup, now, Hajra. I had to know if you could spot an extraneous l. Actually, no – it’s just my eccentric, Tom Lehrer-inspired spelling. The middle l is silent.
Holly – Welcome to my blog, am sure you are already popular around here since I have come across your name in multiple blogs that I visit regularly.
I am surprised you even thought about this name, i took several days to finalize an am somewhat glad I did pick this. Now I dont need to stick to a niche anymore 🙂
Oh, well, good – you know how quickly some of us tire of niches. But you do know I plan to DOMINATE the no-niche niche, right, Praveen? You might want to go for something a little less competitive. Blogging tips or tech gadgets, maybe. 😉
Holly here is the queen of the “no-niche” niche!
I like it when I have someone to compete against…you just need to look at my categories and am sure you will surrender defeat 🙂
Of course, those do not include the most insignificant deal coupons on my site, now can you beat that???
Hajra, you have such a fun way of answering Praveen’s questions!
“Currently I have like a zillion drafts lying around.” – great, now I feel better about having just 10-15 drafts at any time.
Well, what can I say. I really didn’t have anything to say about money and income so I thought why not just have a good time otherwise! 😉
LOL! MY drafts and my tabs open at a single times; if only my income looked huge like them in numbers!
Bill – why dont you wire some fraction of your billions across to Hajra right NOWWW!!!!
Oh yes, and one TV too…
I have one lying around and I don’t even like it…….
I don’t like any of the zillion ones’ I rather turn them into post its…
if you have written it, send it across and i shall surely publish it immediately 🙂
But am pretty sure WE will!
Just keep all that money in a safe place; I know where you live on the 18th floor now…….:). I thought it was cool Praveen recognized we have a good vibe between us; two peas in a pod.
I’m glad you are having fun with it; you can really take it anywhere you want. For now it appears you have found your sustainability level however.
So, are you saying I’m going to have trouble if I ever decide I need a self-hosted site? I used to think that was why ‘certain’ people didn’t come by in my early days; I just didn’t realize how bad I was stinkin’ the place up, huh?
So good to see you in your birthday suit; do you feel a draft?
Crap.. I shouldn’t have given my location! Why oh why do I talk so much.
I know, he picked on it beautifully! People told me scary stories of having a .blogspot blog and then I had to move!
Where are you hiding your millions?
Where Billy keeps his money: http://ow.ly/9EdEM
LOL! Dollars….if you must know, 1 $ equals to about 3.6 AED (local currency) so when I convert that stalk into local currency; they make for a huger chunk! 😉
how about indian rs…1$ = Rs.50 these days, with all the economic recession and rupee getting cheaper. Bill – you should consider going and settling down in one of the Indian cities or even better the mountains where you can blog without being disturbed. Money you already have will keep you in style forever there am sure 🙂
The heat would melt him in May. And bacon isn’t as easy to avail!
Hmmm… tempting, you know, it’s actually tempting. How much would it take to retire in style, do you think? And is there a place that hasn’t got 6000 people per square inch? (Sorry – I’m not claustrophobic at all, until it comes to a crowd or heavy traffic, and then I just go a little berserk.) Heat? Right now, the weather in New Delhi is only slightly warmer than in Houston – some days, it’s a coin toss.
How can anyone miss it, if they follow your blogs and comments, it surely lights up the whole post. I have enjoyed reading them and please do keep them coming you both.
Nice to see you here Hajra and glad you interviewed her Praveen!
But then how could Praveen not have you over, as you are already all over the blogosphere with your awesome comments :)I have known Hajra for sometime now, and she is truly a wonderful person- truthful, honest, and a great friend indeed! At her age, she has achieved quite a bit and feel she is a great connector and net-worker with the awesome connections she has. An she’s always there on most of the blogs I visit with her comments and adds a nice spark to the conversation.
It’s indeed wonderful to know her more as a person via this interview Praveen. Thanks so much for sharing more about a person who deserves to be called a friend now :)BTW- Your avatar picture looks nice Praveen ( I did notice that too!)
Hey Harleen!
You know I love these posts; people come by and say such nice things and being the self obsessed I am, I love it! 🙂
At my age : I will have to hug you for making me feel so young! ;)I am scared to hitting the 30 is some years now…I know prude, but people have told me scary stories about ones’ 30’s!
Thanks so much Harleen! You always have the best of compliments! 🙂 I am blessed!
But this is the truth Hajra 🙂
Ah…you are young at just 30 (don’t ask my age now!!) – you have a whole life ahead of you- so live it well and fully, enjoying each day as it comes 🙂
You are much deserving of these compliments for the wonderful and friendly nature that speaks volumes about you- just being you.
Thanks for being there 🙂
LOL! No, I am 26 but the fact is that I have so many teenagers for cousins and extended family that I feel old! 🙁
But yes, age is then a number but somehow I like being in my 20s…. who doesn’t? 😉
So see, you are just in your 20’s- just a little over a teenager – and that IS young 🙂
Actually, you become old when you think you are old! I have seen people in their 50’s-60’s live like they are in their 20’s!!
It’s all in the mind as they say 🙂
Oh, Lord, ME. I wouldn’t trade my 40s for anything. And I plan to hang onto the last one by the skin of my teeth. 😉
Thanks for stopping by Harleena, and i should mention here that Hajra has been the last of the people who have accepted to get featured on my series.
If any of you bloggers know anyone whom you would like to know more about, let me know and I shall approach him/her for sure (with my usual 20questions)
Thanks for the comment.
Oh, the last one eh? 😉
Contact people who come and comment here! They all are lovely. or strip @twitter-34985693:disqus again! 🙂
Oh Hajra – you are so incredibly sweet and good to me. I totally agree about starting self hosted, after losing all of my subscribers in the transition from free platform to self hosted. And do you know what – I never knew you were interested in having guest bloggers post for you! Although before I offer, I should honour the other piece of writing I committed to doing for you.
When I moved; I saw the change in numbers too; maybe I should have taken blogging lessons before starting! 😉
I am actually but I feel I should be writing more myself. I have been completely off track and want to get back to at least once a week. Maybe do a combination of varied posts – videos, photos, features; just anything but have something up at least on a regular basis!
whatever you do, am sure your readers will love it, so do not break your head over it
Janine – Welcome to my blog, even i wasnt aware of Hajra accepting guest posts, i should seriously consider writing one for her.
Have a great day
Hey, Hajra! Good to see you here 🙂 And around. And around. And. I know where you live. Hugs!

Yes, Praveen. You may. 😀 And Hajra may answer. 😀 I know because I’ve been reading what she writes 😛
She is really having a wonderful sense of humor. The questioning and the answers were all are wise and i must say that she is having a nice way to deal the tedious questions also.I like the post. Thanks for sharing the post.
Thanks so much…
Hi Hajra, that was delightful! Your wit and wisdom are two of the reasons I enjoy your writing so much. I hope Bill Dorman doesn’t rob you. But if he does, I hope he feels so guilty that he buys you a Ferrari!
Hey Carolyn,
You are just very kind! I am glad to have known such wonderful bloggers who appreciate what I am writing (yes I do!)
Rob me or not, I want the Ferrari…
She is a nice personality.I like the way she deal with the things.Thanks.
