The Naked Truth

The Naked Truth About Catherine Alexandra

Cat, as she is better known as, writes for her website catherine-alexandra.com which I have found as a well designed and maintained blog. Recently, she has published a page where you can “promote yourself and your blog” with as many links back to your website or your social profiles. That is something new and I would recommend all bloggers to introduce yourself and provide relevant backlinks to your site here – Promote Yourself.

Catherine Alexandra
1.How long have you been blogging?I started blogging consistently in late August 2011.
2.How many blogs do you own and contribute for?2 that I own now. I contribute on others as a guest blogger.
3.What is the main purpose or objective of your blog?Internet marketing for my businesses and to share internet marketing tips that I learn with others.
4.How many posts do you write on an average per week?2-5
5.How much time do you devote for your blog on a daily basis?I spend some time on it daily even if I'm not posting up a new blog. I usually spend 30 min at least, per day, usually co-commenting with my commentors.
6.How much time do you spend on tracking RSS feeds?I do not yet do much in terms of tracking RSS feeds.
7.What is your favorite social bookmarking site and Why?I love StumbleUpon. I find it to be active and a great way to connect with people of likeminded interests. Due to the way that the site works, I find that it works well with how I search for and share data.
8.What is your blog’s monthly revenue?I'm hovering somewhere between $1500- $3200.
9.How many page views does your blog generate daily?Somewhere between 100-200.
10.Name one blog(apart from yours!!) you read every day without fail.I read the Empower Network main blog daily, Ray Higdon's, & Ana Hoffman's.
11.What is your blog’s main revenue generator? My Super Popup that takes people to my Empower Network affiliate offerings and my "Cat Recommends" blog section.
12.Do you believe in Alexa rankings for measuring traffic?I think it's a good thing to be acquainted with, but I don't get obsessed with this because I have seen that it's not entirely accurate. I use all of these types of rankings as a tool to improve, but don't focus on them too much. I like to focus on putting out quality content consistently and engaging with my readerbase.
13.Do you accept Guest Articles on your blog?Absolutely!
14.Do you believing in spending money on promoting your blog?Of course. I blog for business and I'm firm in the principal that sound business owners re-invest into their business.
15.Do you answer to all the comments on your blog?Absolutely! I make it a point to hold myself to a standard in this aspect. I strive to respond to all authentic comments within a 12-24 hour time window.
16.How did you market your blog during your initial days to get the readers that you have?I primarily shared it with friends and associates directly and then also by setting up autosyndication via Twitter and FaceBook.
17.Any mistakes to learn from and avoid?Be real. You don't have to try to sound like anyone other than yourself. The sooner you adapt "your voice" to the blogging medium, the sooner you will stabilize your readerbase.
Also, banish the idea that blogging is something finite. This is a journey and the journey is the destination. Once you understand this, your creative thinking process can open up and you can really have fun with this.
18.What is your source of new post ideas?I get inspiration for blogging everywhere I turn in life. I like to keep my mind open in terms of how I participate in life. When I do this, I am constantly inspired by life and by others. Reading other people's blogs also provides a nearly infinite source of ideas which can be applied. I keep in mind that everything I learn in life could make great blogging material for others. Blogging is all about sharing. When we keep that in mind, I think we may realize how very much we have to blog about.
19.Is having a “niche” important to bloggers?I think that it is.
I wouldn't try to become too obsessed with being rigid about the niche, though. In my experience, I have found that people enjoy reading material that is relevant to the niche they were seeking out information about, but that they also tend to enjoy the personal touch that shows that the article was written by a real person with a real life and real experiences, rather than some faceless entity they cannot connect to in some way.
20.Any advice to a start-up blogger?Be patient with yourself. Connect to the fact that this is going to be a work in constant process. When you begin from that starting point, you will do much better. Continue to read and learn from others as much as possible. Connect with other bloggers you enjoy and aspire to be like. You will find that you will grow more when you have something to emulate and adapt to yourself.

I’m so honoured to be one of your Naked Truth features! Thanks so much for welcoming me into the fold! 🙂

It was fun to have a retrospective look at my journey over the past half year! I am constantly amazed at what kind of progress is possible in the online world with a bit of attention to detail and consistency!

    • Cat – It was a pleasure to have you over on my blog and to know a little bit more about you and your blog in the process.

I am glad you liked the series and hope it brings some insight about all the great bloggers listed.
Thanks once again for sharing all the information.

  • Well look who is late to this party.  And you named me as the one who inspires you.  Ah, I’m so very touched Cat.

Praveen, I met Cat in a blog commenting group and I just love the way she writes.  I enjoy how real she is and isn’t afraid to tell it like it is.  I so admire that in a person and especially a blogger.
We’ve actually had a chat on Skype and this is yet another reason for taking the time to build relationships.  We found we have so much in common so now when I visit her blog, I feel like I really know her.  I know why she writes what she does and I know where her heart it.  To me that’s so important.  Just stay true to yourself.

Wonderful advice you’ve given the readers here and thanks for interviewing Cat.  I’m loving your series Praveen so please be sure to keep them coming.  I enjoy learning about some of my favorite bloggers.

Have a fabulous day you two!~Adrienne

    • Hi Adrienne,

I must say that I’m impressed how you are able to cover so many blogs with your insightful comments. You seem to bilocate!

Thanks for taking a moment to read my feature here on Praveen’s blog. 🙂 I was honoured to receive a mention and a space here to share about what I have been doing on my blog over the past several months.

I have found the whole blogging experience to be so much more than I’d originally bargained for. It has challenged me to expand my vision of what I do, as well as introduced me to so many new doors of opportunity…not to mention presenting me with friends and active associates who were so willing to help me and provide the kindest of encouragement.

Thank you Adrienne for being one of those friends! And Praveen, thank you again, for having me and being one of those friends too!!

      Cat
