STOP DRINKING LOUSY COFFEE WITH THESE 5 TIPS

Tips on How To Improve Your Daily Coffee

Let’s have a look at the most basic tricks to improve your morning cup.

1.    Is your coffee low-quality?

We’ve all bought cheap no-name coffee at some point in our lives, but that doesn’t mean you should make it a habit. Poor quality coffee can quickly reflect in your daily cup, making it undrinkable.

That doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune buying the world’s most expensive and strangely exotic types of coffee. A simple Lavazza may be enough to elevate the quality, flavor, and experience.

2.    Is your coffee fresh?

Yes, freshness is a thing when it comes to good coffee. Unlike red wine, it doesn’t get better by sitting on your shelf for years on end. The compounds in coffee responsible for its flavor will no longer be there to serve the purpose.

Make sure you buy freshly roasted and ground coffee and when you do, use it within a month. Ideally, store the open bag in an airtight container away from direct sunlight or heat source, best in a cool place.

3.    How about a whole-bean coffee instead?

If you want to boost the flavor of your coffee further, forget about pre-ground coffee. Yes, it’s practical but for the best experience, think about buying whole-bean coffee instead.

Again, make sure the beans are freshly roasted. Store them in an airtight container, in a dark, dry place. But grinding just as much coffee as needed will reward you with impressive results. The only downside is that you need to get yourself a good-quality coffee grinder.

4.    Grind those beans like a pro

Do you already have a coffee grinder but the coffee’s still lousy? It might be your grinder’s fault. There are several grinders available, but the best option is that you invest in a high-quality burr grinder.

Why? Because you want your device to grind all beans equally and accordingly to your coffee machine. You’ll notice the difference right away!

5.    Try a different brewing method

You may dislike watery coffee, but your drip maker brews it every single day. Maybe espresso isn’t your thing, but your colleague at work doesn’t know that when they make you coffee. My point? Try a different brewing method.

There are numerous ways to brew coffee, from French press method , espresso on the stove, Turkish coffee, drip machines, espresso machines, Aeropress, pour-over method, cold brew coffee, and the list goes on. Some of these make a stronger brew, other weaker. Perhaps your local café has a few brewing options where you can taste various brewing styles coffee. Maybe you just haven’t found yours yet!

Additional things to consider

  • Change the coffee: perhaps the coffee you buy continuously isn’t really what you want. Try a different brand, roast, or type.do you like coffee from your local coffee shop? Ask them what it is, buy a pack if they sell it
  • Use filtered water instead of tap water. It may not change much, but it may also make all the difference in the world, improving the aroma and taste of your coffee
  • Don’t brew too much coffee at a time. It’s more challenging to get the proper flavor and aroma from a large batch. Also, drinking stale coffee may be one of the reasons why you believe it’s lousy!
  • Clean your coffee filter religiously and your coffee maker regularly. That is how you can also improve the quality of the coffee. Dirty equipment means lower brew quality.
  • Control the water brewing temperature. Yes, water temperature has a say in the overall quality of your cup.  Ideal temperature is between 195 and 205 F. anything less or more doesn’t bring up all that flavor for you to fully enjoy it
  • Mix it up. Add different liquids to your coffee instead of what you usually use. Think ice cubes, various creamers, sweeteners, spices, non-dairy milk
  • Ditch that plastic coffee mug. Plastic can change the flavor of the coffee, especially when freshly brewed. Use glass and ceramic cups and mugs instead
