Optimizing Your Blog – Quick and Easy

Blogs have been a core part of every successful business’ online marketing campaign. Blogs can attract tens of thousands of visitors in just a week or even an hour (if a blog post turns out to be really viral). For that reason, setting up a blog should be on the priority list of small business owners and entrepreneurs doing online marketing.

Tip 1: The search for keyword – search for a keyword that has decent traffic but has little or no competition.

When researching for keywords, make sure that you pick those that show traffic but have little or no competition. Its hard finding such keywords but nothing is easy these days. If you target high value keywords you’ll end up battling it out with much established websites and you know how that will turn out. Build your website from the ground up and soon you’ll find yourself slugging it out with these websites.

Tip 2: Invest in a good domain name that contains your primary keyword

Investing in a good domain name is necessary. Every expert Internet marketer says that but have you asked yourself what makes a domain name good?

The answer to that question is quite simple. A good domain name includes the blog or the website’s primary keyword and can easily be remembered by the average Internet surfer.

Tip 3: Buy good hosting – “premium hosting” that is

Buying good hosting is also of prime importance if you want to quickly optimize your website. Premium hosting can range from as low as $10 to as much as $50 per month. Nevertheless, the investment is all worth it – no question on that.

Tip 4: Pay attention to your blog post’s title, meta tag and description

You need to also pay close attention to your blog post’s title including the meta tag and its description. Your title should be catchy and at the same time descriptive of what your blog can offer to the readers.

Tip 5: Utilize the power of social networking sites

Social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter can make wonders for your blog’s traffic. With these highly popular website’s, you can attract thousands of visitors in just a few hours. Likewise, there are Internet tools available like SocialOomph that can make your Facebook and Twitter campaigns more efficient.

Tip 6: Take into consideration the keyword density in each of your blog posts

Keyword density is another important consideration when you’re optimizing your blog for enhanced search engine rankings. Keyword density refers to the number of times your keyword appears in the entire article. It is recommended to have a density of 3-5 percent – which means that your keyword should appear three-five times per 100 words.

Tip 7: Share your blog posts in directories and submission and bookmarking sites

Sharing your blog posts in article directories and submission sites such as Build My Rank, Ezine and Article City and in bookmarking sites like Digg and Stumble Upon is another quick and easy way to optimize your blog for better search engine rankings. Do not underestimate the power of these websites.

Tip 8: Content is king – it is, it has been, it will always be

No matter what SEO strategy or social media trick you have on your sleeve, the quality of the blog posts your website has is still the strongest factor that will determine its success. It’s been said that content is king – the truth is, it is, it has been and it will always be.

  • Informative post!

I loved the points shared here. However, I wonder whether that is the recommended keyword density to be used, especially after the recent Penguin and Panda updates. Shouldn’t it be much lesser now and shouldn’t we use a variation, instead the same keyword?

This part surely does perplex me often and with their frequent updates, one really doesn’t know if keywords really matter all that much now. I’ve so often seen blogs and sites rank well with no keywords used, so how does that happen.

    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

    • Harleena – I am glad you could find some information relevant here.

Yes, with every update there is a new direction for all of us bloggers as to how we need to write our articles. Nowadays, I think the keywords are just important to be in the first few sentences and maybe in the ending statements.

It is a confusing concept, and i think the SEO experts can add more value and explain in a more meaningful manner. I hope one of my readers will do justice to your question 🙂

  • I liked the factors distributed here. However, I wonder whether that is the suggested keyword and key phrase solidity to be used, especially after the latest Penguin and Panda up-dates. Should not it be much smaller now and shouldn’t we use a difference, instead the same keyword?

  • Hi Michael,

Nice tips to consider. Actually I like the way tips described here without hitting on readers with SEO keyword 😉

I believe in SEO, but don’t depend on it actually 🙂 Personally as I feel, bloggers try to follow the tips you have mentioned above as only SEO practices. As we dig in more they are obviously methodologies to drive users on our way and to increase reputation, right? 🙂

    Informative post indeed.

    Thanks Michael and Praveen 🙂

(I guess it’s a guest post here Praveen, correct me if I’m wrong)

    Cheers…

  • Hello Praveen! Thanks for raising these points, I’ve never really pondered of the importance of having a domain name that contains a primary keyword, well I guess it’s too late to make changes but anyhow, practicing the right SEO techniques and combining it with online marketing efforts across various social media platforms is a very good call.

  • Thanks for the salutary share, Praveen- I’ve been applying a significant amount of SEO techniques including submitting articles to online directories but I still find the need to do further research on steps I could take to come up with a fool-proof and effective plan that actually generates tangible results.

  • Hi Praveen! Thanks for emphasizing these points–having the right combination of keywords can ultimately launch an SEO campaign but when coupled with a marketing campaign across various social networking sites, generating leads may come effortlessly. Thanks!
