Mastering YouTube

With the YouTube Statistics released lately, you would be amazed that more than 35 hours of video content is uploaded every single minute and also more video is uploaded to YouTube in 60 days than the 3 major US networks created in 60 years!!! I would say without a second thought that YouTube has become one of the most popular search engines on the Internet today.

Browsing more on the various search options provided by YouTube, I realized that there are many features which makes your search easy and interesting. I thought I should share this information with anyone interested.

1. Recently Posted Videos

royal wedding, this week

This will show you only those videos related to the royal wedding uploaded the past week. You may also use keywords like “today” or “this month” for similar searches as required.

2. Playlists

katy perry, playlist

Video Playlists are a great way to search and listen to your favorite videos on one go by adding the keyword ‘playlist’ to your search. You can also copy the videos to your youtube account, but explaining how is out of scope of this blog.

3. 3D Videos

Avatar, 3D

If you got a pair of 3D glasses, pull them on and search with the keyword, yes you guessed it right – ‘3D’ and enjoy the latest 3-dimensional flick. No glasses?? Dont worry, check out this to watch 3D content without them.

4. YouTube Channel

TED, channel

TED videos are uploaded randomly all over YouTube, but if you are looking for the official youtube channel, just include the keyword and enjoy.

5. Movies

Superman Returns, movie

Yes, you can watch movies on YouTube, search along with the keyword to limit your search results to only movies.

6. HD Videos

family guy, hd

Watch high quality videos by adding the keywords and it returns back only the HD video clips that are either 720p or 1080p.

7. Exact match

allintitle:”mera bharat mahaan”

You can borrow the “allintitle” keyword from google to search for specific word matches in the YouTube title. This will return back only those video clips that have an exact match for all the words in it’s title.

8. Site Specific Search –

site:webdeveloper.com javascript to adjust website as per the screen resolution

This helps when you are searching for a technical answer to your question and want to limit your search to a particular forum or even search for a recipe in a particular food related site. You can mention the site URL as shown above and type the question next to it.

Hope you liked it and found it useful. Do share your thoughts and also if you think I missed any interesting keywords, do post them in your comment.

Keep searching…
