TechCrunch Editor Eric Schonfeld interviewed Drew Houston, CEO and founder of DropBox who says he plans to maintain the growing momentum of his company in mobile business and just about everything else.
Houston also says in the video that DropBox has got a deal with HTC wherein it will get “baked” into millions of handphones, not just as another app or icon, but sort of as a seamless experience everywhere.
In his words, “We can help you get stuff out of each of those little silos or little boxes and put them all in one place so that all that content can be more useful to you and we can help you share it and we can help you see it on your iPad or see it on your TV.”
Do you think DropBox will be able to keep up with the growing need for social networking with it’s storage and cloud phenomenon?
I know no doubt that Dropbox will continue to grow. Look at their net worth now! Where do they place all this data is what I’d like to know. Seems like there aren’t enough servers in the world. Ah heck, they’ll just continue to build and create more I suppose. 🙂
Yea, DropBox is growing both as a service and a company. They will surely be on top in the coming days.
Hi Praveen, I am a big fan of Dropbox. I use it for all of my blog photos and documents. It would be handy to have Dropbox everywhere, but I have already downloaded Dropbox on all my devices!
Carolyn – yea i agree with you, it is quite a wonderful service, i am waiting to see how they will “bake” it with HTC phones. Thanks for the RTs by the way.
Wow, that’s an excellent concept. It would be a great thing to have just one place to store all of your content.
I’ve got a phone low on storage, a laptop on it’s end, and a pc that has a huge hardrive to store everything. It’s still a pain to organize everything and to plug in and use crummy software.
I could see how this alternative would work out.
Bryce
Bryce – yea that is the pain-point they are wishing to address by this so-called “deal” between the 2 giants.
Whatever DropBox puts its hands into these days will surely draw a huge attention for sure.
Thanks for visiting and leaving your comment.
Praveen,
I can see from what was said on the video that the drop box is growing and will continue to grow.
I think my question is the same as what Adrienne asked. Where is all of this going to be stored. It seems that there would have to be massive storage.
Great idea — putting everything in one spot that can be accessed from anywhere. I like that.
Dee Ann Rice
Dee Ann – Thanks for the comment and I agree with you and everyone else here that DropBox is growing exponentially and is providing immensely usable service to all of us.
Regarding where they save the data, it is all on a cloud server available anywhere in the world. It is an altogether new topic of discussion and I think you gave me an idea for my next post now 🙂
Thanks for sharing the post.
Great information on drop boxes.
