A Little About Me First: My first attempt at blogging was way back in 2008 when I started out with blogger.com and wrote for almost a couple of months. I have to say now that back then, I didnt have a sense of direction with what I was writing and all my articles were about friends and family and finally my daughter. After a while, my ideas dried up and I gave up!!!
The resurrection happened in May 2011 when I started fresh with my blog – DailyMorningCoffee.com. Since then, I have been actively writing articles about various topics and I do not have a definitive niche to my blog. My articles are diverse from “How To” guides to “Technical Reviews” to “Affiliate Marketing” and you can see the range of topics in my categories.
Why DMC? – Many people have asked me this question, why did you name your blog as DailyMorningCoffee? What does it have to do with your blog and the posts you have published? Well, my belief is the domain name doesnt have to necessarily reflect the nature of your blog. I have always stuck with this idea and when I was initially analyzing what I would write about and when I would find time to blog, I came up with this name. I am usually up at around 5.30am to blog with a hot cup of coffee in my hand. I looked around my study desk which is next to the kitchen and I could see the kitchen carpet has a picture of a coffee cup with “Breakfast Blend” written on it. On the wall are 2 pictures of coffee beans and coffee cups. Well, what else would I have named this blog?
The Challenge – I love challenges in my life, be it with my work or my blog, I usually welcome them and try to get over them with positive energy. Imagine my surprise when I got a message from Harleena Singh to read her latest post where she had accepted her 7 Links challenge and had nominated me along with 4 other bloggers to carry forward the torch. I was amazed as well as thrilled at reading this and started getting to know more about this challenge and what it was all about. You can read this post to know more in detail about the rules of this challenge – TripBase 7 Links Challenge Rules.
Here are the posts that I came up with:
Most Beautiful Post – This really is a tough one since my blog doesnt have much to do with people or places or food. So I pick the one where I have my daughter’s picture featured – Happy Birthday Neha.
Neha has been a dear daughter and has never stopped surprising me with her questions about everything and how fast children grow up to be mature and understanding. She is four now and I have never been so attached to a person ever before. She is my darling sweetheart and she has made me realize how deep family strings are sown into one’s mind.
Most Popular Post – This is an easy one, most of us bloggers have our Popular Posts lined up in our home page, and it all depends on how many comments have been recieved for the post.
DMC’s First GiveAway was the most popular of my posts and I was happy to giveaway the Premium WordPress themes to two of my regulars on DMC.
Most Controversial Post – This is a difficult one to choose since I havent recieved much criticism on my posts, which either mean I am too good (which i can only hope) or my readers just dont care!!!!
However, I would like to choose this one which I think can draw some opposing thoughts from people and I would like to welcome them to leave their comments on the same – New Bloggers are As Good As ProBloggers.
Most HelpFul Post – I would like to believe that the Naked Truth Of Bloggers Series have helped all my readers as well as the wonderful bloggers who have been featured on the list.
I came up with this series back in Jan and have featured most of my readers and bloggers who I follow on the list. I have to say I learnt a lot from reading their answers back to my questions and there were instances when some of them even motivated me to a new thinking in my writing. I would like to thank all of them for having shared their information and making this happen.
Post Whose Success Surprised Me – I have to say The Top 10 blog Posts which I wrote to make a mention of my liking did surprise me when all those bloggers responded with so many kind words.
Harleena, I actually want to thank you to make me look back on this and realize that I somehow discontinued this series. I have to keep this alive and kicking now and that would be my next agenda for the week.
Post I Feel Didnt Get The Attention It Deserved – Back during my early days of blogging, I had written a series on How to Setup a Professional Website which I feel did not reach out to many bloggers since I was new and did not have as many followers during the time. I had written out what I had experienced and learnt during my initial setup of this blog hoping that other new bloggers will find it useful and do not perform the same mistakes that I did.
Writing those 3 posts in the series was a wonderful experience for me and I also provided all the necessary links to the plugins and software tools required for the basic setup. I hope my readers will now notice and spread the word across to anyone new.
Post that I am Most Proud Of – I have many to pick from and I would like to choose the Better Blogger Checklist which I had written to Emily Suess’s awesome blog.
I still go through the list whenever I publish my posts and feel it makes an enormous difference when it comes to mistakes in our writing. The checklist is pinned onto my desk even now and looking at it, I remember the days when I was corrected and spell-checked by my wife. She has been a great help during my blogging days and has helped me to focus on my writing ever since.
The 5 Nominations – Now comes the time to nominate 5 bloggers to carry forward this challenge and keep this wonderful series alive. So, here are my 5 nominees for the task –
1. Deoone of ReleasingMeToday
2. Hajra of Hajrakvetches
3. Dee Ann of DeeAnnRice
4. Bryce Christiansen of BalancedWorkLife
5. Justin of MazzaStick
There you go, you have my posts and all my nominees to hopefully continue this challenge and keep us all informed about all the awesome bloggers out there. I had a nice time recollecting my old posts and reading them again. This is also a nice way to bring other bloggers into the limelight and let them get known and connected to all our readers.
Thanks so much Praveen! I am so honored 🙂
I actually did this a few months back and it was very tough for me! I will keep this for a rainy day and will get back when I do it! 🙂
Thanks again!
Hajra – Thanks for stopping by and am sure you deserve all the nominations you have already recieved.
Thanks so much for accepting the challenge Praveen!
I am glad indeed that you did, as for a change all of us get to know a little more about you- as so far you have been getting to know all of us a little better through the Naked Truth Series!!
Wonderful to know about your daughter Neha- she looks a bundle of joy! I do have to stop by and read all the other posts mentioned, as I have just read a handful of them as yet.
I couldn’t agree more with the list of nominees you have mentioned, though Justin I also nominated- guess he has 2 people to accept the challenge from now 🙂
Wishing you all the very best in your endeavors 🙂
Harleena – First of all, thanks for nominating me and giving me this chance to review back my posts. It was a nice exercise and I loved writing this.
Yea, I saw Justin’s name in your post, but I really wanted to read from him and thought a little bit more pressure would make him do it 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
I am glad you accepted this challenge, Praveen, because it was such a pleasure to read. I am the process of checking out the links in the post 🙂 Great stuff. And I really enjoy the “Naked Truth about….”Series. Thanks for the privilege. I remember seeing the post about your daughter Neha – very very charming.
Looking forward to more. I enjoy reading your posts in my mailbox 😀 and tweeting them.
Vidya – Thanks for all the kind words and it is indeed very motivating for me when I read such comments.
I really appreciate all the shares and comments, thanks for stopping by.
WOW! What a wonderful shock to come back to from such a wonderful weekend! Thank you so much for the honor of being nominated Praveen! I am delighted to have made your list with such other awesome bloggers. I am familiar with each of them except Dee Ann. Congrats to each of the other nominees, as well. 🙂
Since this is the second one that I’ve been nominated for, I guess it’s definitely time for me to act on the Challenge. Being that I only post once a week at the moment, I will do my best to uphold this challenge as soon as possible… if not this week, then most definitely the next!
Again, thank you so much! I truly appreciate your generosity. Cheers, my friend. 🙂
Deeone – You are most welcome and surely deserving of this. I read your comment on Harleena’s post and thought I really should nominate you and get to know more about you and your previous posts.
Hope to see them soon. Thanks for the comment.
Hi Praveen,
I’m so honored. Reading your nomination list, I see many of my friends. So you and I must share similar tastes when it comes to recognizing good content.
However, my favorite part was catching up on all the posts I didn’t get to see the first time. I hope that’s what many of the other visitors will do as well.
We don’t often get opportunities to share the posts that mean the most to us and our visitors so I’m glad this allowed for that.
The Naked Truth Series was very fun to stay up with and learn about all the other bloggers I visit.
What a great way to start my week.
Thanks,
Bryce
Bryce – I am sure you deserve more than this, and I cannot wait to read about yourself and your posts as well.
I am glad you are liking my blogs and articles and hope to keep them coming. Thanks for the comment.
[…] on early part of this week I was nominated by a new friend, Praveen Rajarao of Daily Morning Coffee to participate in the 7 Link […]
I was over at Dee Ann’s blog as well as Harleena’s and found out that you had nominated them both for the 7 link challenge so had to drop by here to see what you shared as well Praveen,
I love these challenges because it gives us the opportunity to look back on some of our posts and like you said, see which ones may not have gotten the attention they deserve. Like the top 10 blog posts that you haven’t written about since and had you not done this challenge you may not have been reminded yourself.
I ran over and checked out your post you wrote on your daughter and Praveen, she is a cutie pie. You must be so proud.
Will enjoy going back through your posts Praveen so thanks for sharing all of these with us and glad you took this challenge.
~Adrienne
Adrienne – It was actually Harleena who nominated me and I in turn nominated Dee Ann. But nonetheless, this was an eye-opener for me and as you have pointed out, I could catch up on half-baked posts which I had stopped for no reason whatsoever.
I love my daughter and she keeps me on my toes with her constant questions and never stops surprising me with how fast she learns things.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts, really appreciate it.
