How Do I Place Ads on my site

To continue with setting up your professional blog or website, I want to provide some basics of how to place Ads on your site and which are the programs that you can sign-up for these marketing activities.

Now that you have selected your domain, finalized a niche, published your site and added some initial content, your website is up and running and you have started getting regular visitors asking for more. So how about getting some extra income in the process? It is time to start monetizing your site and getting returns for your effort.

What are Online Ads – Let us try to first understand what these Online Ads are and how you are getting sucked up into the whole concept of internet marketing. Online Advertisements are for business and commercial purpose ads appearing on websites and blogs which may be in the form of text links or video clips or banners or pop-ups. Clicking on these links will take your visitor to the intended commercial website.

What is Your Role – There are 3 entities in the concept of Online Advertising, they are Advertiser, Publisher & Ad Network. Publisher will be the domain owner who will host the ads on his personal website or blog(You!!). Advertiser is the owner of the commercial establishment who wants to promote his business service or product by these ads. Ad Network is the intermediate agency between the two who is responsible for agreeing upon the contract and facilitate in creating, monitoring and payments between the two parties.

How to Publish – Now that you understand your role is that of a publisher, all it takes to become one are the below simple steps:

Sign up with an Ad Network – All Ad Networks provide FREE signup for publishers, you need to provide your basic information and website URL and payment information(how you would like to recieve payments?)

Design your Ad – Once your account is activated, you can logon to the Ad Network dashboard and start designing your ad, how you want it to appear on your site, what colors etc.

Copy Code – Once you design your Ad, you will be given a code snippet, copy and paste it in the appropriate page of your website.

You are all done, you can see that Ads will start appearing on your website immediately. You may want to login to your Ad Network on a regular basis to check your earnings status and payments information.

Ad Networks – There are several network agencies and some of them are listed below.
