Experience the new world of Sony Xperia P

Sony disclosed its new phone Sony Xperia S, During the CES 2012. Xperia S is Sony’s first handset after it has parted from Ericsson. After this, Sony added two more handsets, and they are Sony Xperia U and Sony Xperia P. These new handsets are called as Mid-Range Android handsets. In this article, we are going to discuss about Sony Xperia P.


1.      Design:

Sony Xperia P is almost similar to Sony Xperia S. It has an enhanced curved back to give a stable grip in the hand. The TFT touch screen is 4 inches and it is scratch resistant having shatter proof sheet on mineral glass plate and offer you 16 million colors. The screen resolution is 960 x 540 pixels. The dimensions are 122mm x 59.5mm x 10.5mm in height, width and depth respectively for Xperia P. It is a very classy phone to handle. The phone is only 120 gms and is very easy to carry. The body of the phone is well fitted and is strongly built.

2.      Operating System:

Google Android 2.3 is the operating system on which Xperia P runs. This phone is upgradeable to 4.0 ICS operating system version. The processor is 1 GHz cortex A9 processor with NovaThor U8500 chipset. This system is 1GB RAM and is very well supported too. With Sony BRAVIA engine, it offer and assure sharp and clean clips. It supports Timescape as its User Interface.

3.      Camera:

This phone comes with a great 8 megapixels main camera with auto focus adjustments and LED flash light. It also has a VGA front facing camera. Now, the person who is looking for all such facilities can think of having Sony Xperia P. Its camera features Geo-tagging, face and smile detection, touch focus, image stabilization, and 3D sweep panorama. The picture quality is awesome in both the cases with indoor as well as outdoor shoots. The colors are rich and clear. It BRAVIA engine and its unique White Magic technology made it the most unique phone making the color sharp and clear as they are.

4.      Battery:

Sony Xperia P has a marathon Li-Ion 1305 mAh which is a standard LI-Ion battery. When the phone was tested the battery gave excellent results and performed excellent. The battery is very fine and gives a daily average use and along with data usage as well. When tested the stand by time that the phone gave was 460 hours when tested using 2G and 415 hours when tested using 3G. The music play time that it gives is more than 55 hours and when checked for the talk time it gave more than 6 hours on 2G and more than 4.5 hours on 3G.

5.      Memory:

A little drawback that Xperia P offers is its internal memory. It offers 16GB inbuilt memory space out of which 13GB is user accessible. But the biggest drawback is that it has no memory card space.

6.      Audio/Video:

The in-built music player offered by Sony is simply superb and it gives you sound that makes you dance giving pleasure to your ears and support 3GPP, MP3, MP4, WAV, SMF, OTA and Ogg vorbis audio formats. The HD screen gives awesome effects on videos. It offers brilliant colors and sharpness. You would love to watch video on your phone. The WhiteMagic technology of this phone enhances the video and image quality of your phone. It supports MP4 and 3GPP video formats. It gives a resolution of HD 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second with a digital zoom of 8X. It offers continuous video stabilizer, auto focus, and video light.

7.      Features:

Sony Xperia P is stuffed with ultimate features which are very impressive and worth its price. It provides FM radio that too with RDS technology. It also offers Facebook and Timescape with Twitter. For music lovers it offers Xloud, clear bass system and 3D surround sound as its new options. Like all other android phones it also comes with pre load applications such as, Google Voice Search, Google Calendar, Google Talk with video chat, Google Mail, Google Maps with Street View and Latitude, and Google Gallery 3D.

Web browser, Pan & zoom, Google Voice Search, Android Market, Google search, Web Kit, Bookmarks, etc are pre installed in Sony Xperia P. Document readers, Calendar, Alarm clock,  Calculator, Google Calendar, Flight mode, Phone book, Infinite button, E-manual and many more kind of features are in built and very easy to use. If anything left you can easily download it from Android market.


Sony Xperia p is a great phone an Xperia series and will satisfy the customer with its features, technicalities and pre installed apps. This phone is a good mid range smart phone these days. It is a power pack for daily usage.
