It’s causing quite some stir in the New York bars with many bartenders having to lose customers for not able to get the right espresso for making it the perfect espresso martini.

It’s a good coffee & liquor drink that provides a bit of a caffeine shot, but it’s nothing like an energy drink. A well prepared espresso martini will showcase the espresso flavor.

Simple rule of thumb for customers: If the place doesn’t have an espresso machine, don’t order an espresso martini.

Once we are on the other side of this pandemic, a visit down to Australia will prove you can find the drink at every dive bars, cafes, upscale coffee hubs, and every venue seems to own a super fancy espresso machine! While at NYC bars the bartenders are waiting for the buzz to die down.

The Espresso Martini Recipe:

Espresso Martini

This classic drink was invented by a British bartender Dick Bradsell at Fred’s club in London. He just mixed vodka with espresso and coffee liqueur, and the Espresso Martini was born.

Ingredients

2 ounces vodka

1/2 ounce coffee liqueur

1 ounce espresso, freshly brewed or cold brew

1/2 ounce simple syrup

Steps

Add vodka, liqueur, espresso and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake until chilled

Strain into a chilled cocktail glass

Garnish with coffee beans and make it picture-perfect

If you have an espresso machine, you can prep a shot and put it in the freezer for a chill, which will keep the hot liquid from melting the ice and diluting the drink.

Try an Espresso Martini on your next late-night pub crawl, and it will keep you on your toes.
