In my previous post (read here), I had briefed about the various health hazards that a blogger maybe succumbed to in his/her path to a successful website. I was reading related articles over the net, and I found this video very interesting and closely associated to my previous blog. Thought I should share with my readers.
20-20-20 – Have you heard of this rule? It stands for 20minutes-20seconds-20feet as depicted in the image below:
For those of us, who spend most of their day in front of their laptops, blogging away as if there is no tomorrow, it is very important to understand and follow this rule. In simple terms, it says for every 20minutes, we need to take a 20 second break by focusing our vision on an object that is 20feet away. Simple, yet so effective.
Do you think, we can remember to follow this rule diligently, and maintain a good healthy eyesight? I seriously doubt it, after reading this blog, you may actually test this rule out a couple of times, and then get back to your long hours of blogging. To help you still further, there are some software tools(believe me, it is true!!!) that will help you follow similar vision exercises mandatorily. What a pity that we have to rely on software tools to give us a break from software!!!
There is one such tool from EyeDefender, which will actually download a program to your system tray and after specific interval of time, it will open up an exercise tutorial to help you relax your eyes. See below video for a presentation of the same. Just follow the pointer and it will help your vision to be healthy.
Workrave is another program that assists in the recovery and prevention of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). The program frequently alerts you to take micro-pauses, rest breaks and restricts you to your daily limit.
I think these tools are really necessary to have it onto your desktop to remind you to take your time away from your computer and maintain a good healthy “vision” and “focus” in your life. Safe Blogging!!
