This Valentine’s day skip the flowers and the chocolates, boring. Most people supporters of Valentine ’s Day want the unpredictable utterly sweet and thought out gift. Whether that be a romantic evening or a nice gift, try changing it up this year with one of these ideas:
Candlelit dinner at home: Save the hassle of making reservations at the trendy restaurant with an overpriced menu and cheesy service. Spend some time cleaning your home and prepare for an evening in. You can purchase a large bag of dozens of tea lights. Throw some pillows on the floor or eat at the never used dining room table. Cook a yummy meal and pair it with some delicious cocktails. Don’t forget the tunes!
Rent a Hot Tub: Believe it or not there are places that will rent you a portable hot tub! Some hot tub rentals can be set it up in your living room or in your back yard. You can rent different sizes for 2 person up to 12 person hot tubs and the cost is relatively reasonable. The hot tub installer will set it up for you and go over all the rules and procedures with you. Can you imagine coming home and seeing a hot tub in your living room with rose petals and candles floating? Now that is hot!
Breakfast in Bed: Dinner is overrated so surprise your loved one with a breakfast in bed. Prepare the night before by tidying up a bit and making room for a meal under the covers. Make red, heart shaped pancakes or prepare their favorite omelet. Pour mimosas and hand over the newspaper and enjoy spending the morning in your pj’s!
Visit Others: This year make it untraditional and visit someone who may not have Valentine’s Day plans. Try visiting those in Nursing homes. Bring flowers to pass out and spend time talking to the residents. It’s a different kind of love that you will feel later that day. Not only did you feel good but you just made someone’s day.
Hotel: You know that hotel you have been hearing about for months? Rent a room for a night. Ask the hotel about any ‘romantic packages’ they may offer. When you get there, you and your loved one jump into the plush bath robes and order room service. Stay in bed all evening and sleep in.

Hey Laura,
Great tips for Valentines Day. I have always been one who more appreciates the personal “touch” of gifts from the heart than the standard (and trite) usual red roses and chocolates. 🙂

Valentine’s Day
just became popular here in Germany like last year or so. Most people
here in Germany don’t even care about this date. So any special suprise you have
for him would be great.
Thanks for tips. I’ve already made my sweetie candled dinner and breakfast in bed, so, I think, I should look for some good hotel and ask them, as you advise, about some “romantic package”. Thanks again for posting.
