iPhone5 – An Unbiased Review

I am pleased to welcome Olawale Daniel with this fascinating “unbiased” review on the new iPhone5. I am sure all my readers will find the information shared here useful. Thanks for the wonderful article. Here goes…

So finally Apple has launched iPhone 5, creating a bit of happiness and a bit of disappointment among the iPhone fans. The rumours have been hitting the Internet for past few months about its features, price and many other things such as the 4G LTE etc. Apple has put a stop mark to all those rumours by releasing the much acclaimed smartphone.

But does it ends there? Few days before the launch, Apple has made a bad move by filing a lawsuit against Samsung for tampering with its Patent which they claimed to be part of Apple iPhone 5’s major features. Do they won? Yes they did won the case but it later turned out to be one of the worst decision ever made by the Cupertino-based company ever since its inception.

They won but the impact of the lawsuit affected the product’s sales and so many other things – the Apple map saw a huge failure and the generous Siri is at it once again!

We shouldn’t focus much on these Apple’s mistakes (as I recently published an article about the company’s blunder, you can check the link above), but rather explains what comes with the new phone and what users that are yet to buy should be expecting to get from the phone.

iPhone 5 unbiased features and specs

iPhone 5 has come up with thinner and taller body. It’s the first time when Apple has changed its track by coming up with 4 inch screen in iPhone 5. 4G LTE technology in iPhone 5 is shining from its huge features list. You might be scrolling the web pages to find out its features, price etc. Well, no need to go anywhere as I’m up with the complete list of features of iPhone 5. So let’s have a look at it.

Thinner and Taller

The internal hardware features come at second spot, the first thing that any person notices in smartphone, is its look. iPhone 5 has been able to catch the attraction of people by coming up with thinner and taller body. iPhone 5 is about 18 percent slim as compared to iPhone 4S. The screen size is 4 inch which makes it taller than the previous series of iPhone 5.

Display

The 4 inch screen and high quality display, makes iPhone 5, a perfect device for movies and gaming addicts. The 16:9 aspect ratio and full HD support, takes the clarity of screen to a higher edge.

Connectivity

4G LTE has got adopted by Apple in iPhone 5 and according to tech experts, it’s the only eye-catching feature that Apple has included in its new launch.  With 5GHz Wi-Fi—aka 802.11N, that you get in iPhone 5, 150 Mbps Internet speed can be achieved. The actual figures are most likely to stay below than 10, depending on your carrier.

Processor

A6 chip is a part of iPhone 5, which ensures fast speed and low power consumption. According to Apple, iPhone 5 about 2.1 times faster as compare to iPhone 4S.

Sound

Apple has worked hard to attract the music lovers. iPhone 5 has three microphones: one at the back, one at the top and the last one at the bottom. The three work together to bring maximum quality in sound.  Apple claims that iPhone 5 has the capability to reduce the noise of surroundings to provide you clear sound quality, while having talk with your loving beings.

New Dock Connector

The dock connector has got some improvement. It has become revertible, enabling you to connect the cable from either side. So no need to worry about the damage, that could have been there due to wrong connectivity.

Camera

8MP is the camera that we get in iPhone 5 which is as same as iPhone 4S. Some new features have been added in it. Apple claims that iPhone 5 has got the best image stabilization technique. The noise reduction feature brings more reality in your photos. Moreover, you don’t need to go with the noise reduction process manually the camera is sensitive enough to decide that which part of image needs how much of noise reduction.

Secondary camera is of 1.2MP, providing 720 pixels quality.

Battery Life

8 hours of 3G talk time, 8 hours of LTE browsing, 10 hours of Wifi browsing, 30 hours of video and 225 hours of standby is what we get in this new smartphone from Apple.

iPhone 5 Price

iPhone 5 16GB is $199, the 32GB is $299 and the 64GB is $399, all with a two-year contract.

Pre-booking has already got started and sale will start on 21 September in some major countries. In rest, the sale will start on 28 September.

So are you impressed from iPhone 5 or are going to wait for the launch of Nokia Lumia 920 PureView? As an iPhone 4S user, I did not find iPhone 5, a good deal to go with. What about you?

  1. Hi Olawale, Welcome to Praveen’s site. The iPhone 5 is a truly impressive phone. Er, I mean mini-computer. It’s hard to believe how thin and light the phone is. You almost wish that it had a bit more heft to it so it doesn’t float out of your hand.

Although it’s very impressive, I am staying with my iPhone 4S. The reversible dock connector is very cool, but I’m pretty heavily invested in the old dock connector.

Thanks for sharing your great review here, Olawale!

    1. Hello Carolyn – Thanks for stopping by. I am sure you had a similar review of the iPhone5 over at your site.

I am glad you found this informative and Olawale did a good job at giving an honest opinion of the features and pricing of the phone.

yes, if you have already invested on a similar phone, it is always a pain to switch over and having to pay again for limited extra features.

      Have a good weekend ahead.

    2. I had the 3Gs and upgraded to the 5. I’m very happy with it. This article was an excellent review and did seem to be unbiased.

My favorite feature is that the camera actually has the ability to go two stops further down, which means it has a better aperture, so it is more effective in low light.

      🙂

  2. Hi Olawale,

Believe it or not I’ve never owned an ‘I’ anything – Pod, Pad or Phone and I’m looking forward to owning an Iphone 5 for the first time very soon. I can tell you one thing though, the prices here in the UK are way, way more than the US. £600 for the entry model – can I buy one in the US and have it work in the UK I wonder?

  3. Hi Olawale,

Thanks for the review on iPhone mate 🙂

I’m not actually a iPhone lover, but love some features in it. I’m in love with Galaxy Nexus. Well, I have read few unbiased reviews before, but some of ’em were obsessed with iPhone 😉 Anyway, good review here and specifications are clear.

Anyway as iPhone 4S can upgrade to iOS6, Me neither think it would be a big deal.

Have a nice weekend Olawale and Praveen 🙂

    Cheers…

  4. Across the length and breath of this city, you will come across plenty of highland cottages, where you can think about lodging. If you are on the lookout for luxury there can be nothing better than these.it is across the lenth and breth of this city.

  5. Thank you for the review, Olawale 🙂

To be honest, I don’t really like the iPhone 5 (I like the company and how they operate, also like their innovative products, but with the new versions of products such as iPhone, they aren’t making major improvements!)

Sure, a faster processor and thinner/lighter phone is all great 😉 But, compared to what Samsung is doing (I would say Samsung is doing much more innovative work than Apple now, but that would be biased since I am an Android lover – but, I like Apple too :D).

Anyways, thank you for the review!

  6. Too bad that we can’t buy it yet as the stock already vanished from the shops. We have to wait a bit as there are many pre-orders ..
    Indeed it’s a great phone.
