4 Fabulous Party Theme Ideas

Creating an upscale themed event is about more than just food, decor and attire. It should also include a creative and unique theme idea that hasn’t been used thousands of times before. In order to wow your party guests and really make a splash in the social scene, consider using one of these fabulous and unique themed party ideas for your next event.

1. An Upscale Thai Dinner Party

Set the scene for a lavish Thai party by incorporating silks in bright and bold colors like you might see while on vacation in Thailand. Red, pink, green, orange and blue silks can be used on the walls, the table and even used to make seat cushions for each of the chairs. The main attraction, of course, will be the delicious Thai feast. Make sure that the meal includes a spicy curry, fresh seafood dishes and delicious appetizers like spiced Thai crab cakes, fried shrimp with dipping sauces and lumpia spring rolls. Ask guests to dress in traditional Thai outfits or to draw on Asian couture for their attire inspiration. Play Thai music softly in the background to create a more authentic atmosphere.

2. Circus Themed Parties

If you have the budget to make a party truly upscale, then a circus theme can be an incredible event. Forget about the popcorn and clowns from a child’s circus and embrace the more exotic and alluring aspect of the theme. The lighting for such an event should be quite dark and include colored spotlights on performers who capture the imagination of party guests with acrobatics, athleticism and acts like fire dancing. Cuisine should be inspired by classic circus snacks but include a grown up feel. Cocktails can be filled with ice cubes frozen in trays to resemble popcorn in homage to to the traditional circus of your youth.

3. Colored Events

If you want to set your themed event apart from others like it, consider picking a less common theme such as a color. A completely pink party, for example, can give a formal event a little edge without being too adventurous or extreme. A colored party doesn’t mean that everything has to be in the same bright shade. Instead, keep things simple and luxurious with highlights of the color used throughout. Ask guests to sneak a hint of the color into their outfits. Men might wear pink ties and women can don a pink skirt or top in their outfit. Serve dishes that include the color and make at least one specialty cocktail in the special hue. If you want to get creative with the music, include artists like Pink or play Prince’s Purple Rain to keep guests impressed.

4. Casino Party

If you want a truly fabulous event, give it a casino theme. This is an exciting way to elevate a party from normal or extraordinary. Start with the most important part of the event; the gambling. Give all guests a set amount of chips to use throughout the night at tables. Hire dealers to man the tables and let people mingle at different tables to play. At the end of the night, award a prize to the guest who amassed the greatest number of chips. Drinks should include an open bar and a specialty cocktail. Finger foods and canapes work better than a sit down dinner for this type of event.

Each of these upscale party ideas is a creative and unique way to host an event whether large or small.

  1. Wonderful party theme ideas indeed!

I guess most of us tend to think traditionally and not really try out new things, which includes me too, though if we do, it would make the party much more lively and trendy too 🙂

The Thai one and the colored events connect with me most, because I think you can do a lot with both those ideas, and play upon more of it to liven up your place. We can always build up from the given ideas or add more variations to make something different using these very ideas.

Thanks for sharing and getting my mind running for the next theme for our party 🙂

  2. Wow, amazing party theme ideas. Thanks for putting this all together for us. My personal favorite is number four: Casino Party. We are going to do this next month with the girls! 🙂

  3. Theme parties are great fun. My old boss throws a “Witch Party” for Halloween every year. The guests are all required to attend dressed as witches (it is an all girl party after all) and the result is amazing and a bit disturbing. At a given time her tiny upscale neighborhood is transformed into a witch haven. The costumes range from grotesque to sexy and the night is rounded out with music, dancing, holiday treats like eyeballs (specially made eggs), worms (spaghetti) and lots of booze.
